PowerBI introduction for Dynamics NAV

Target group:
Application managers and technical consultants, using Excel to report data from Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

Description:
PowerPivot and Power BI Desktop are part of the PowerBI program from Microsoft. In MS Excel and Power BI Desktop data from several sources are collected, including Microsoft Dynamics NAV*.

Subsequently this data can be presented by pivot tables, pivot charts and within Excel functions, and also as a Dashboard and reports within the PowerBI Desktop. In this training course possibilities of PowerPivot and the PowerBI Desktop are explored by practical assignments.

*Dynamics NAV on SQL and/or Dynamics NAV2009 or newer versions because of webservices

Prerequisites:

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV as an administrator, technical consultant or developer
• Experience with Excel 2010 or newer versions

Content:

• Overview of PowerBI elements
• Overview of PowerPivot and PowerBI Desktop: start, interface, general use
• Publish data from Microsoft Dynamics NAV by using web services
• Create Queries in PowerPivot and PowerBI Desktop (selection, filters, relations)
• Introduction in DAX functions in PowerPivot and PowerBI Desktop
• Presentation in Excel by Pivot tables, Pivot charts and functions
