Hackaton: 'Smart Area Planning'

Innovation comes from people. Our employees are an important source for new ideas and valuable innovations. At the end of last year, we therefore organized an Innovation Challenge. The winning idea 'Smart Area Planning' was recently developed into a hackathon.

Smart space planning with scenarios

In one day, the participating teams of consultants and developers created a global design and a mockup of a smart tool that can make the life of space planners a lot easier. At its core, the tool proposes, compares and modifies scenarios based on various preconditions.

One team proposed to calculate optimal scenarios with an Artificial Intelligence (AI) system. An idea from another team was to do a risk analysis of expected space bottlenecks within a scenario.

It was very rewarding to see how much creativity and energy is released during such a hackathon! In a short time, the participants made a very valuable start on the solution to this complex problem. What comes next?
