Better process overview and insights with Microsoft Flow

Written by Rick Baak | Dec 4, 2018

If you use various systems or applications, it often is difficult to connect them in a logical manner. Yet it is often necessary, because it allows you to streamline your business processes. And when employees work in the same way, everyone has a better overview and better insights. But how do you go about it without turning it into a time-consuming and costly project?

Microsoft Flow: connectors between systems and applications

Microsoft Flow allows you to connect systems and applications using connectors. This requires minimal technical knowledge. The application is very logical and works on a drag-and-drop basis. Does this still sound very abstract to you? Below, we will share 2 examples of situations in which Microsoft Flow comes in handy.

Website: contact forms and integrations

When you have a contact form on your website and a (potential) customer fills it out, you’ll probably want to have it conveniently forwarded to your system. You might want to review and approve the contact information first, so you can follow up on it or connect it to a certain business account in your CRM system. By embedding Microsoft Flow on your website, you can easily set up such a flow!

Microsoft Flow can also provide a solution for website integrations. This often involves high costs, because you have to interconnect various systems. You can eliminate the required customization and implementation process by using Microsoft Flow, which allows you to utilize a variety of built-in and external connectors. You simply set up a flow in which all systems are perfectly integrated.

Perfect for ‘lighter’ recurrent processes

Microsoft Flow is an accessible solution for running your company on a daily basis. You can connect Microsoft Flow to Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and Dynamics Business Central/NAV. However, you should keep in mind that heavy integrations are less suitable for this. It is best to use Microsoft Flow for processes that are more recurrent in nature, such as monthly approvals and website contact forms.  You can also use it to create follow-up tasks in your CRM system – for example, when your company name appears on Twitter with a hashtag. Microsoft Flow is particularly suitable for such ‘lighter’ processes!
