Our motto at Mprise Agriware is: people first. Our customers and colleagues come first with us. Who are the people behind Agriware and what motivates them? Meet Teun Kralt, manager consultancy at Mprise Agriware. What does he like about conversations with growers, which Agriware moments stay with him and what music does he like to listen to?

  1. What do you like to do in your leisure time?
When I am not working on Agriware I like to spend time with my family. I have two children, Pete aged 9 and Liene aged 6. Sometimes on the couch on my xbox, but besides that I have also built a racing simulator where I can virtually pretend I am driving really hard in iRacing. While sitting inside during lockdowns, someone challenged me to do something useful with all that free time, so I then started playing guitar. Of course, I should have done that twenty years earlier but I'm trying very hard to get to the 10,000 hours still so that some decent sound comes out of it. Finally (and only when the weather is nice) I can be found on my racing bike. Not as often as I should, but at least I'm trying.
  2. What makes horticulture an interesting world for you?
Horticulture runs in my veins. My grandfather was a grower and I literally learned to walk in the Rijnsburg flower auction. I also think the great thing about the sector is that in conversations with growers you always know exactly where you stand. If you do something wrong you hear it immediately and if there is no grumbling you know you are doing a good job. In addition, it is very cool to see how the sector continues to innovate. With Agriware under my arm I was able to see a lot of the world and everywhere you go you notice how special the position of the Netherlands is within the global sector. That is something to be proud of.
  3. What Agriware moment will you always remember?
The Agriware moment I'll never forget is one from the Indigo Solutions (the first version of Agriware) era. It was during the time when we were still really in our startup phase. The six of us thought we were already pretty good, but we still had a lot to learn. I was convinced then that the concept of Agriware was so good, (the concept we had then is still the basis of what we do now,) that we should be able to conquer the world with our software. And I have always propagated that to my colleagues. What works for growers in the Netherlands is for the most part also applicable to growers in other parts of the world. When I look back on that now and see how far we have come, it looks like that big dream is starting to come true. It is also cool to see that the things we are learning abroad are also adding value to our Dutch projects.
  4. To which place do you prefer to go on vacation?
My happy place is any hill in Tuscany, Italy, where I can sit with my back against a wall enjoying the vineyard or olive trees in the distance. My wife and kids unfortunately don't quite agree with me so I may not go every year, but if I had it my way I would be in Italy every year.
  5. What do you like to watch or listen to? (Music / film / art / books)
This is actually a very difficult question. I like to listen to music. What music I listen to depends very much on my mood and the time of year. But the common denominator is that it has to radiate that it was made with attention and love. Quick hits don't do it for me. At the moment the album Bluefinger by Bertolf is on repeat, but tomorrow it could be Antwerp rap by Tourist LeMC or Pet Sounds again, or, or, or, or... When it comes to movies and series, I am less fussy. I enjoyed Oppenheimer incredibly, but I can just as easily watch Star Wars.
